Jerry Garcia and the Wall of Sound, 1973. The Wall of Sound was a live performance sound system designed specifically for the Grateful Dead, an American psychedelic rock band from 1965 to 1995. Made up of 89 300-watt and three 350-watt amplifiers, 586 JBL speakers and 54 Electrovoice tweeters. 26,400 watts of audio power, approx. 75 tons in weight. People used to say its sound could reach half a mile distance (800 meters) without degradation.
